Lewis flax does not make a good fodder product. Version to LC in the MLC group, further refinements of the surgical equipment necessary for the MLC technique are required before it may be universally adopted as a routine procedure for symptomatic gallbladdergallstone removal. Further, as other studies have also indicated, 9-11 no consistent improvement as regards either the earlier resumption of solid food intake or the relative length of hospital stay was noted in the current study when the MLC was compared with either of the other 2 LC groups. Several studies have demonstrated that the MLC reveals the advantage of eliciting a reduced level of wound pain and a reduced requirement for postoperative analgesia compared with conventional LC, 10, 11, 17, although our study was unable to reveal such a reduction in the degree of postoperative analgesia required when similarly compared. In fact, there seemed to be a marked increase in the postoperative analgesia requirements of test patients from the 5-mm LC group when compared with patients allocated to the other 2 groups. Such a result may be because of the extension of the umbilical wound to facilitate the change to a 10-mm port to accommodate a 10-mm clip or to remove the gallbladder for the first 10 patients of the 5-mm LC group. It would seem reasonable to suggest that the pain emanating from the right upper quadrant and flank port wounds might be able to be effectively reduced by reducing the port size from 5 mm to mm. As listed in Table 3, no detectable difference in the pain score associated with the right upper quadrant and flank port wounds was noted when comparing pain scores corresponding to the 3 groups at 24 and 48 hours after surgery. As regards the subxyphoid wound, although the pain score corresponding to the MLC group was lower than was the case for the other groups at 24 hours postoperatively, there was no notable difference 48 hours after surgery. From our results, in actuality, we may have noted a reduction in the dimension of the incision pain only when port diameter was reduced from 10 mm to the subxyphoid area. The extent of patient-experienced pain associated with the umbilical wound may increase if the dimension of the wound needs to be extended during an LC procedure and, correspondingly, the quantity of the analgesic dose re REPRINTED ; ARCH SURG VOL 138, SEP 2003 1022. F it was a pill developed by a large pharmaceutical company, you'd have been bludgeoned to death by now with advertising claims for its wonders - cure for baldness, eternal life and universal salvation. Actually, it does none of these things but its extraordinary health benefits have been known since at least Roman times. Flax seed oil is pretty amazing stuff and most of us don't get enough. So what does it do? It helps prevent obesity, diabetes, inflammatory problems such as arthritis and asthma. It can reduce susceptibility to allergies and possibly avert depression, tackle irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. It can help prevent and control diabetes while its phytoestrogens can reduce the spread and development of breast, prostate, colon and some other cancers by regulating hormone metabolism. It relieves constipation, reduces intestinal poisoning toxemia ; and there are studies to show that it can improve brain development, with teachers and parents reporting remarkable improvements in children's concentration and behaviour. The reason it is most energetically promoted is for its role in preventing heart disease. Oh, and it can stop cricket bats from splitting if you oil them with it - at least that's what I found when I was a kid! Just to complete the story, flax plant fibres are turned into crisp, clean, starchy linen - the stuff that marks out a good restaurant. Has it all, really. Perhaps it's not surprising that a growing number of nutritionists now believe that flax is probably the most important substance you can take for good health - as part of a balanced diet, that is. It's not foolproof against fags and boozing, burgers and lard sandwiches. The thing that does the trick is its magic ingredient omega 3. It's an oil, one of a group of `essential fatty acids' EFAs ; - essential because your body can't manufacture them. It's the same oil that the Government does its best to get us to eat in the form of oily fish but with a couple of important differences - flax provides about 50 per cent more omega 3 than the equivalent volume of fish oil, has no fishy aftertaste and isn't polluted with traces of the deadly poisons PCB, dioxin and mercury, which are now in all fish. It also contains omega 6 and omega 9 EFAs, B vitamins, potassium, lecithin, magnesium, protein, fibre and zinc. 12. Data used for model construction from Table 1. Et al., 2002c ; , and phenotypic Diederichsen and Hammer, 1995 ; studies suggests that the pale flax L. angustifolium Huds. ; is the most likely progenitor of cultivated flax and the likely place of origin was within the Near East region Zohary and Hopf, 2000 ; . However, the Near East does not fully match the dominant regions of great flax diversity: Indian Subcontinent, Abyssinian, Near East, and Mediterranean Vavilov 1926; 1951 ; . The flax types from the Indian Subcontinent and Abyssinian regions were found to be morphologically more diverse than those from the Near East and Mediterranean regions Vavilov, 1926; 1951 ; . It is possible that Vavilov's regions of flax diversity reflected only the multiple domestications which occurred at these regions over time, not necessarily the true place of flax origin, as the origin of a crop plant is diffuse in both time and space Harlan 1956; 1971 ; . If this reasoning is correct, analyses of geographical patterns of flax variation should yield more information on the number of flax domestication centers and how these centers are genetically connected Harlan, 1975; Sokal et al., 1991 ; and less on the region of flax origin Harlan, 1986 ; . However, such geographic analyses have received little attention Vavilov, 1926; Elladi, 1940; Dillman, 1953; Chandra and Makhija, 1979 ; , particularly through the application of molecular markers. Exploitation of flax genetic resources for flax improvement requires knowledge of the range and structure of the genetic variability present in flax gene pools, but comprehensive characterizations of the existing flax germplasm held in the world collections are lacking, particularly using molecular techniques. Early characterization efforts based on agrobotanical characters revealed four major regions of flax diversity as mentioned above Vavilov, 1926; 1951 ; and several unique groups of cultivated flax such as fiber flax, intermediate flax, largeseeded flax, and dehiscent flax Dillman, 1953; Kulpa and Danert, 1962 ; . Recent RAPD analyses showed i ; that RAPD variation in flax was generally low; ii ; that more variation existed in landraces than cultivars; iii ; that more variation was detected in linseed, than fiber, flax; iv ; that North American linseed cultivars had more variation than those from the other countries; v ; that more variation was found in the Canadian linseed cultivars released before 1980 than those released after 1980; and vi ; that the genetic erosion in the centurylong North American linseed breeding programs was not significant Fu et al., 2002b; 2003b ; . While these variation patterns are significant for the improvement of North American flax, they are limited in helping us understand how large the genetic variation in a flax collection is, how the flax gene pool is structured, how a core set and flecainide.

[134] It seems to me that a reasonable conclusion to draw from this history is that a blanket prohibition including medical use of marihuana does not have a long-standing foundation in our legal tradition and societal beliefs. I recognize that the Quebec Court of Appeal drew a somewhat different conclusion in R. v. Hamon 1993 ; , 85 C.C.C. 3d ; 490 at 494 in meeting an argument that marihuana is less dangerous than alcohol and yet alcohol use is not absolutely prohibited. In that context, Beauregard J.A. held that "we do not have a cultural tradition which would prevent the state from acting". That is not, however, the same as a finding that marihuana prohibition is part of our cultural tradition. As McCart J. demonstrated, it is of recent origin and then was based on a very fragile foundation. iii ; Common law access to treatment and flexeril.

Phormium tenax , new zealand flax or harakeke, is the iconic flax, seen widely in marshy ground, at the coast and, increasingly, in street and roadside plantings. Purchase flax seed at health food stores, grind in blender to almost powder consistency, store in closed jar in refrigerator and flolan. Which shall be set up for a token unto the Gentiles ; for his dwelling shall be glorious. At the same time shall the Lord take in hand again, to conquer the remnant of his people, which are left alive ; From the Assirians, Egyptians, Arabians, Morians, Elamites, Caldeies, Antiochians and Islands of the sea. And he shall set up a token among the Gentiles, and gather together the dispersed of Israel, yee and the out casts of Juda from the four corners of the earth. The hatred of Ephraim and the enmity of Judah shall be clean rooted out. Ephraim shall bear no evil will to Judah, and Judah shall not hate Ephraim: but they both together shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the West: and spoil them together that dwell toward the East. The Idumites and the Moabites shall let their hands fall, and the Ammonites shall be obedient unto them. The Lord also shall cleave the tongues of the Egyptians sea, and with a mighty wind shall he lift up his hand over the Nilus, and shall smite his seven streams and make men go over dryshod. And thus shall he make a way for his people, that remaineth from the Assirians, what time they departed out of the land of Egypt.

Adults, but not babies, slowly change the omega-3 from seeds or leaf veggies into the omega-3's found in fish. Those are the ones that are found in our eyes, nerves and brain and that are key for hormonal and cardio-vascular balance [and for full-term births]. Unlike human and horse milk, cow milk and most vegetable oil based baby-formula don't have the omega-3s needed for brain development between the last months before birth to age 2. One of these fish oils -DHA- does much of the work after a signal hits the brain nerve cell while the other -EPA- is present in very small amounts to control the beginning and end of this work; it controls a thought, motion, depression or mood swing from start to finish. In fact, the over-activity of certain brain-fats due to insufficiency of EPA [~1.8g d?], may well underlie schizophrenia and some types of depression [Fincastle], Huntington's and post-partum birth ; depression. Depression also predicts heart disease. Or, thinking nutritional deficiency made worse by masses of omega-6- ; , a lack of omega-3 [EPA] may be a common linking cause in schizophrenia, bipolar ; -depression, M.S., cancers, adult diabetes, bone and heart disease [Horrobin et al]. Think: there's the DHA of a 2 salmon in your head -and appropriately enough, the molecule is shaped like a ? mark or fish-hook -in fact, it wiggles like a worm on a hook, millions of times a second, around that basic shape, making it arguably the brain's most versatile molecule. This fat, DHA, is the keyboard of your eyes, the processor-chip of the computer in your brain and may help prevent Alzheimer's Disease! Another 1999 study found a 60% reduction in sudden heart deaths in the high omega-3 oil group when associated with high vitamin E or low trans fat intakes: J Cl Nutr; May 99. Fish oil is high in omega-3 and dramatically lowers blood triglycerides in people with very high starting levels: NEJM; '85: 1210-6 An overview by Dr. Simopoulos of benefits of omega-3 and dangers of excessive cholesterol lowering omega-6 linoleic again: soy, corn, sunflower, cottonseed and safflower ; is here: J Cl Nutr; Sept '99. She has a practical book, the Omega Diet. Simply put: Balance Canola, Olive and Flax --and easy on the rest. The Heavy Science is herehere and here's a great review about omega3 in heart disease. Some fish plus plant based omega-3 halves heart attack risk and fludarabine.
